Annual concert and prizegiving 2024

Sunday 29th September saw Perthshire Brass and Perthshire Youth Brass meet in fine form at St Matthew's Church for our annual concert and prize giving ceremony.

Sunday 29th September saw Perthshire Brass and Perthshire Youth Brass meet in fine form at St Matthew's Church for our annual concert and prize giving ceremony.

The night was kicked off with a warm welcome from band chairman Jim Annan, recapping our success at the Scottish Championships, our recent trip to Cheltenham for the National Finals as well as the ins and outs of the year's social calendar to an appreciative audience spilling up into the church balcony.

The musical programme for the evening featured the adult band playing both old classics and new pieces, and the youth band doing a fantastic job of their own - growing in size and talent in spite of pandemic disruption and cuts to the Perth & Kinross instrumental music service. The music showcased brass soloists across both bands, a blue man group-esque percussion feature, and various ensemble pieces highlighting our depth of players and imagination.

The prize giving ceremony saw awards go to members across the organisation for efforts onstage and off, we congratulate all recipients.

Mr Annan Games Night Winners - Andrew Brennan and Alan Thom
Tom Stewart Trophy for Young Players of the Year - Lauren Bell and Eoin Robertson
George Annan Trophy for Most Improved Young Player - Max Kevash and Bethany Rabett
Ronnie Munns Shield for Young Bandsperson - Isaac Chan and Teagan Luscombe
Conductor’s Award - Lorna Mackie
Sigurd & Dorothy Scott Shield for Players Player of the Year - Rachel Whiteman

Thank you to all who make our organisation possible, from our fundraisers and generous charities to the parents, members, volunteers and concertgoers. It has been another fantastic year for the band and we look forward to capping it off with a strong showing at the Band Supplies Scottish Challenge and Scottish Youth Championships next month, and at many Christmas engagements across Perthshire before the year is out.
