Success at the 2019 Scottish Championships for Perthshire Brass

Months of hard work has paid off for Perthshire Brass as a 2nd place finish at the Scottish Championships this past Saturday secured the band's place at the National Championships in September and will also see them promoted to the second section for 2020.

Leigh Baker and Brett Baker were the adjudicators for the Third Section where the Irvine and Dreghorn Band took 1st place, though flatteringly, both the British Bandsman and 4BarsRest had Perthshire Brass as winners after hearing all 10 bands.

As always with Perthshire Brass, a competition is a full day out for all friends and family, but a few of the band's younger members were also on top form on Sunday providing a pre-results concert with Perth & Kinross Schools Percussion Ensemble, and the ever-successful Perthshire Youth Brass took part in Perform in Perth on Monday, receiving a first class certificate for their fantastic performance.

These events mark the first contests ever without the band's founder and longstanding M.D. George Annan Snr., so Saturday's successful day out was a significant one for the band, and one which we’re sure he would be very proud of.

Being the steadfast band that Perthshire Brass are, arrangements have already been put in place for the band's trip to Nationals - made with the trophy in one hand and a phone in the other. This is the first time that Perthshire Brass have qualified for the Nationals since 2012, where they hope to represent Scotland and Perthshire well.

Details for the band's trip to Cheltenham in September will follow in due course.
