Scottish Championships 2026 Preview

Perthshire Brass make their debut in the First Section at the 2026 Scottish Brass Band Championships, following victory in the Second Section last year.

For the first time in the history of our organisation, Perthshire Brass will compete in the First Section at the upcoming Scottish Brass Band Championships - a huge achievement the organisation is incredibly proud of.

A bumper 2025 saw Perthshire Brass win the Second Section at the Scottish Championships in March, followed by a respectable 6th place at the National Finals in September. A year further punctuated with strong contest placings saw Perthshire Brass ultimately awarded Scottish Second Section Band of the Year, with the band now poised to make the step up into uncharted territory.
PB, alongside nine other bands will contest in the First Section on Saturday 7th March at Perth Concert Hall, playing Andrew Wainwright's "Variations on Was Lebet" - an exciting piece based on a German hymn that the band has thoroughly enjoyed getting to grips with.
Once again, the band will take to the stage under conductor Willie McMullan who has led the band to many a strong result over the last few years and has particularly enjoyed some of the music to be explored in this test piece.
We invite all to attend the contest and support the band as we make this next step in our history.
